Welcome to West Coast OWL Group
West Coast OWL “hatched” in January 2021 with expertise in Forest School practice, child rights and safeguarding, outdoor learning and wellbeing, support for vulnerable adults, Forest Bathing, philosophy of education, arts, conservation, natural history, nature connection with community engagement.
We welcome participation from anyone with an interest in time spent out of doors, especially in and around woodlands supporting and promoting physical, mental and social health, wellbeing and learning.
Our group comprises members from Lochalsh, Skye, North Uist, Wester Ross and Lochaber. We aim to offer activities throughout this area.
Our 2026 aims include:
Establishing a network for outdoor and woodland learning practitioners and projects. Sharing good practice and forming an Outdoor and Woodland Learning Community.
Provide support opportunities for outdoor and woodland learning to education practitioners for children and young people.
Working with local and regional organisations to support opportunities for inclusive outdoor and woodland wellbeing for the wider population, including adults and families.
Networking with neighbouring OWL groups,
Co-creating and collaborating on future plans with our West Coast OWL Community
