Willow Weaving and Story Telling Workshop & Tayside OWLS AGM

January 28 @ 12:00 am

Willow is a beautiful material to work with and has been coppiced ever since humans began using tools. Ancient woodlands were often maintained to provide materials for baskets. Stories have been told and shared as a way to pass on knowledge and entertain people while they worked and socialised. Both make a significant contribution to our understanding of the world and how we relate to our environment.

Coffee and registration from 9.30am

workshop will run from 10 am to 1pm.

Cara Roberts, environmental educator at One Nature Education, will share a couple of nature stories and we will make simple woodland creatures related to the stories out of willow, and perhaps even begin work on a small basket. We will look at how to use these activities with young people at all stages.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided with a suggested donation of £1 to cover expenses. Bring your own mug. Wear warm waterproof clothing and if possible, bring a mat to sit on. The Shed provides shelter and toilet facilities, but we will aim to be outdoors if it is sunny.

Priority will be given to Tayside OWL Group members and wider OWL Scotland group members. Book soon to secure a place!
