Come join us in Evanton Community Woods to learn how make beautiful winter lanterns from willow & paper and recycled jars & imagination.

There will be a wee fire to greet your arrival in the woods and hot drinks available for our lantern making session. If you would like to arrive a little earlier and take a lunch with you you are very welcome.

Our session will start with a brief welcome including introductions and safety considerations. We will begin with the wonderful willow lanterns as these will take the majority of the time to create. We also need to allow a bit of drying time for the PVA glue. With this in mind could you please take a cardboard box about the size of a small banana/tomato box if the lantern is going home in a car or public transport. Willow is an indigenous tree and it is an ancient crafting material to work with. We will be working with unsoaked buff willow for this activity. We hope you will enjoy the activity and take it back to your child and adult groups alike and pass on the joy!

It is always satisfying to be able to re-cycle and re-purpose materials we use on a daily basis and the jar lanterns make this a pleasure. We will have some silhouette templates available but also appeal to your creative self to come up with an outdoor nature based idea for your own jar lantern too.
