Whispers of the Trees: An Introduction to Ogham Writing plus group AGM

March 28 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Led by Bushcraft Bairns, this engaging half-day workshop, which follows Tayside OWL’s AGM, invites participants to explore the ancient Irish tree alphabet, Ogham, through storytelling, hands-on activities, and time spent in nature.

Using the new OWL Scotland Ogham resource, we’ll uncover the rich symbolism behind each character, many of which are tied to native Scottish trees, and learn how this script was traditionally carved and read. Participants will get the chance to create their own Ogham inscriptions and reflect on how this ancient form of writing connects us to the land and our cultural heritage.

Ideal for educators, this workshop blends nature connection, creativity, and cultural discovery in a relaxed, outdoor setting.

By the end of this workshop, you will have:

 Created your own Ogham inscriptions

 Reflected on how this ancient form of writing connects us to the land and our cultural heritage.

Arrive from 930 am for registration & refreshments. Do join us for our group AGM (all welcome) at 10 am followed by the Ogham workshop at 1030 am.

Tea, coffee and biscuits (BYO mug) will be provided with a suggested donation of £1 to cover expenses. Wear warm waterproof clothing – we will be outdoors!

Priority will be given to Tayside OWL Group members and wider OWL Scotland group members.
