Stone Age to Phone Age training course- Glasgow

November 15 @ 9:30 am - 4:30 pm
Learn about Scotland's Stone Age Forest Clans & the links to Learning for Sustainability in modern Scotland. For all types of educator.
Have you ever wondered how people lived in the Stone Age in Scotland or how archaeologists know about the communities of the past?
Are you an educator of any kind - primary teacher, outdoor educator, home schooler, community engagement officer, ranger?
This workshop is based on the activities in the OWL Scotland publication 'Stone Age to Phone Age' (https://owlscotland.org/resources/scotlands-forest-clans-from-stone-age-to-phone-age/), and links the hunter-gather and early farming communities of Scotland to the way we live our lives today.
The target teaching audience is primary 5 to 7 but many of the activities can be adapted for younger and older age groups. The activities are linked to literacy, mathematics, science, social sciences and learning for sustainability.
We will be exploring a range of activities including comparing food, clothes, and materials across time. Exploring landscapes and maps. Planning our Stone Age monument, and trying our hand at archaeobotany.
The workshop is open to all with an interest in education.
